Aim:  Implement Sharepoint in a UK energy company

Our role:  To project manage the creation and implementation of a data management system for 6,000 engineers.

Outcome:

Aphelian Consulting were brought into the consultancy who had won the contract with the customer and after a design and scoping phase had already been started but not completed.  The fact that some issues had not been resolved by the time the code creation started proved problematic later in the project when questions arose about the exact scope of some elements of the project.  These were resolved through negotiation but it would have been preferable to have agreed the scope of the project prior to commencing the coding.

Coding was undertaken by in-house developers with external design consultants being employed to create an engaging look and feel for the application.  The use of external design consultants was both positive and negative.  The customer liked the designs that were put forward but, when it came to implement these using Sharepoint, matching the look and feel took more time than had been planned.
